Karen SamborskiAN UPDATE FROM THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR
Waste Management and Stevens Disposal

July 11, 2019

Hello City of Milan Residents,

I  want to thank all of our residents for their patience as we make the transition from our old rubbish service provider to our new provider. Your feedback, phone calls, suggestions and questions are appreciated and help us as we work with our business partners to improve service, address problems, and solve issues. Currently, we are still experiencing an issue with the green recycle bins from Waste Management and are receiving several questions about trash and recycling not being collected by Stevens Disposal. As such, we wanted to provide you with an update on both matters.

GREEN WASTE MANAGEMENT RECYCLE BINS
The City of Milan has notified Waste Management that several residences and businesses are still in possession of the green 96-gallon recycle bins despite having placed them at the curb on designated pick up days. If you still have a green recycle bin, please keep it at the curb. Waste Management has agreed to pick them up no later than July 17.  If they fail to pick up your bin on that date, the City will collect your bin and deliver it to Waste Management. We will provide you with details about how to report information about bins not collected by Waste Management. If possible, please make sure that the bins are empty when you place them at the curb.

STEVENS DISPOSAL
We have received several questions on Facebook, through email and via phone about trash and recycling not being picked up by Stevens. We appreciate your calls and your patience as we all adjust to a new service provider and a new routine. Stevens is following the same pick-up day schedule as did Waste Management. However, it is important to note that they tend to run much earlier in the day than our previous provider. As such, we encourage you to put your trash at the curb the night before your scheduled pick-up day. Recycling services will take place every other week, as was the case with Waste Management. In the first few weeks of service, we anticipate a few hiccups as Stevens learns their new route. They have been very responsive to issues we have brought to their attention.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend and I look forward to seeing all of you at the next 3rd Thursdays.
